Introduction
Medibank is an integrated private Health Insurance and health services group, insuring 3.4 million people. They operate over 100 stores and agents and have 50 clinics across Australia. They offer Private Health cover for hospital and ancillary services, Workplace Health, specialised Travel Health Advice and Services, and access to Life, Pet and Travel Insurance.
I immediately liked their web lay out. It is neat, clean and organized. Some companies that offer many different covers can have confusing, maze like websites, but not Medibank.

Features and Coverage
After reviewing many insurance companies, I tend to look for out of the ordinary offerings from companies. Overseas Students Health Cover and Visitor Cover immediately caught my eye.
Overseas Students provides cover for students who aren't from Australia, but have a student Visa to study here. It offers:
- 24/7 Emergency advice and assistance
- Ambulance Services
- Hospital Cover
- Cover for doctor visits
- Up to $50 per prescription for certain medications
Private Hospital Benefits include:
- Same day admissions
- Intensive care
- Overnight admissions in a private or shared room
Public Hospital Benefits feature:
- Overnight admissions (shared room only)
- Same day admissions (shared room only)
- Outpatient accidents and emergency department fees, including outpatient medical and post-operative services
From what I could see, there is some exclusion, but probably wouldn't be a concern for most students: non-necessary procedures, cosmetic surgery, assisted reproductive services, etc. - but I'd advise checking the policy for more detailed exclusions.
Visitors Cover is fairly similar to Overseas Student cover, but this covers individuals in Australia on a work visa or for visitors such as friends and family.
