We've seen the HCF Insurance commercial on TV many times now but how much do we really know about them? Well, in this review we will find out. Let's start with some basic information about HCF. They were started in 1932 and are currently one of the Big Four Australian health funds.

Features and Coverage

Their main service offered by HCF is their Private Health Insurance, but there are also many other products available too. In this review we will go through some of them and how they can benefit you.

  • Health Insurance - There are several plans that you can choose from, depending on your lifestyle and your budget; Young Singles & Couples, Planning a Family, Families with Kids, and Singles & Couples. For most of these plans, you will be able to expect having ambulance cover and be hospitalised for a number of things such as accidents, shoulder reconstruction surgery and several others. The price for each plan ranges from a few dollars a day up to $15 a day. There are also some Extras that you can purchase along with some Packages that includes both the Health Insurance and the Extras.
  • Life Insurance - Also known as HCF's Smart Term Insurance, is an insurance policy that starts from as little as $3.45 per week. Some of the advantages with this plan include being paid an agreed value when you die, get extra benefits if there is a double death in an accident, and if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness you will be eligible for a 100% payout.
  • Travel Insurance - The first thing to note is that their Travel Insurance is issued by QBE, and not HCF, however you will still be able to enjoy many benefits from them. The first is that if you are already a HCF member, you will be able to get 10% off your quote. Your cover will be comprehensive meaning more than the basics will be covered for, and a 24/7 emergency hotline will be set up for you in case anything bad happens.
  • Pet Insurance - If you're concerned about your furry friends as much as you are cornered about your own health, taking out a policy for them would be an excellent idea to make sure both of you are happy. There are two plans to choose from; Pet Essentials and Pet Premium. You can expect to get cover for accidents and illness, depending on the plan you choose, as well as other things such as surgery, radiology, hospitalisation, specialist care, and an overall annual claim limit of either $8,000 or $12,000.
